I would argue that the influence of the Episcopal Church USA is now largely gone and a historical footnote. The statistics show that it has been in decline for half a century, and in complete collapse for more than 20-years. Unsurprisingly it has been deserted by its faithful mainly because it chose to adapt to “the spirit of the age” rather than causing people to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Sadly, the once mighty ECUSA has become little more than a self parody and emblematic of post-Christian Western society. It seems too late for them to pull back.
Excerpt: “It was one of the first mainstream churches to ordain women; the first to consecrate an openly gay bishop. But over the past 20 years, the church has lost more than a third of its members, falling from 3.4 million in 1992 to 2.3 million in 2012. Now, following its convention in Indianapolis, the Episcopal Church appears on the brink of collapse.”
