Mikhail Kalashnikov, inventor of AK-47, dies at 94


It was a very good weapon with a very controversial history. Many U.S. soldiers in Vietnam threw away their unreliable M-16 rifles when they were able to take AK-47’s from Vietcong casualties. Mikhail Kalashnikov was a tank commander in the Red Army during World War Two and started designing what became the AK-47 after he suffered injuries in battle. He knew that soldiers lives depend on reliable weapons.
